And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

And they said unto Moses, Because {there were} no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:
And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!
Thou shalt not follow a multitude to {do} evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest {judgment}: {speak: Heb. answer}
He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.
And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for {there is} no bread, neither {is there any} water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.
The way of the slothful {man is} as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous {is} made plain. {is made...: Heb. is raised up as a causey}
Then David and the people that {were} with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.
Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD.
But murmured in their tents, {and} hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard. {wept...: Heb. gave forth his voice in weeping}

And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, {Ye take} too much upon you, seeing all the congregation {are} holy, every one of them, and the LORD {is} among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? {Ye take...: Heb. Remember, {and} forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.
