But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. {concluded...: or, shut them all up together}
And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions {that were} under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
And this is the promise that he hath promised us, {even} eternal life.

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
What then? are we better {than they}? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; {proved: Gr. charged}
And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
And if ye {be} Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: {for that: or, in whom}
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, {saying}, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which {he had yet} being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
And this I say, {that} the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: {it is} the gift of God:
For all the promises of God in him {are} yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. {guilty...: or, subject to the judgment of God}
What then? are we better {than they}? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; {proved: Gr. charged}
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath {whereof} to glory; but not before God.
And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same {is} a perfect man, {and} able also to bridle the whole body.

And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
Where {is} boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
What {is} man, that he should be clean? and {he which is} born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
If they sin against thee, (for {there is} no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;

And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not {smite} him the second time. {delivered: Heb. shut up}
