Son of man, because that Tyrus hath said against Jerusalem, Aha, she is broken {that was} the gates of the people: she is turned unto me: I shall be replenished, {now} she is laid waste:

The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Chittim it is revealed to them.
And all the kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isles which {are} beyond the sea, {isles: or, region by the sea side}
Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly {and} speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession:
And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house. {masons: Heb. hewers of the stone of the wall}
The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
And {then} the coast turneth to Ramah, and to the strong city Tyre; and the coast turneth to Hosah; and the outgoings thereof are at the sea from the coast to Achzib: {Tyre: Heb. Tzor}
Unto the men of the east with the Ammonites, and will give them in possession, that the Ammonites may not be remembered among the nations. {with...: or, against the children of Ammon}
Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away {the punishment} thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant: {the brotherly...: Heb. the covenant of brethren}
Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the LORD; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why {then} doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities? {Concerning: or, Against} {their king: or, Melcom}
Son of man, set thy face against the Ammonites, and prophesy against them;
Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.
Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, {and} said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen {it}.
For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
And send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah;
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast clapped {thine} hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced in heart with all thy despite against the land of Israel; {hands: Heb. hand} {feet: Heb. foot} {heart: Heb. soul}
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, {and} to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remaineth: for the LORD will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the country of Caphtor. {the country: Heb. the isle}
How doth the city sit solitary, {that was} full of people! {how} is she become as a widow! she {that was} great among the nations, {and} princess among the provinces, {how} is she become tributary!
And Hamath also shall border thereby; Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise.
Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.
And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession:
Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit {shall be} a fiery flying serpent. {cockatrice: or, adder}

For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy. {skippedst...: or, movedst thyself}
Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls; {fat: Heb. big, or, corpulent} {bellow...: or, neigh as steeds}
But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name {was} Oded: and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because the LORD God of your fathers was wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage {that} reacheth up unto heaven.
Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, {am} against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister's cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much.
And say unto the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou saidst, Aha, against my sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity;
The merchants among the people shall hiss at thee; thou shalt be a terror, and never {shalt be} any more. {a terror: Heb. terrors} {never...: Heb. shalt not be for ever}
They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad. {drag: or, flue net}
And I am very sore displeased with the heathen {that are} at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.
They have heard that I sigh: {there is} none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done {it}: thou wilt bring the day {that} thou hast called, and they shall be like unto me. {called: or, proclaimed}
He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done {it}, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant {man}: {a valiant...: or, many people}
And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for {their} hurt, {to be} a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them. {to be removed: Heb. for removing, or, vexation}
Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the LORD hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.
