Thou art become guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and hast defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come {even} unto thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a mocking to all countries.

Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.

Moreover I will make thee waste, and a reproach among the nations that {are} round about thee, in the sight of all that pass by.
And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.
Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it {to be} a proverb and a byword among all nations.
To make their land desolate, {and} a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head.
O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people {are become} a reproach to all {that are} about us.
Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD toward Israel.
All that pass by clap {their} hands at thee; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, {saying, Is} this the city that {men} call The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth? {by: Heb. by the way}
Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what {meaneth} the heat of this great anger?
We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.
And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for {their} hurt, {to be} a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them. {to be removed: Heb. for removing, or, vexation}
And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.
Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
