Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

None {of them} can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.

Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh {thee}; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.

The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when {they} give an offering unto the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls. {give more: Heb. multiply} {give less: Heb. diminish}
