Who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant.

He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we {him} no more.

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any {that are} wise of heart.
Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.
And {yet} this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast {also} spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.

But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from {being} queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt {it} by the brook Kidron. {destroyed: Heb. cut off}
Happy {are} thy men, and happy {are} these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.
And also {concerning} Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from {being} queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped {it}, and burnt {it} at the brook Kidron. {mother: that is, grandmother} {idol: Heb. horror}
He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance {that} he gave them.
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.
And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
And it shall come to pass, {that} when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.
