They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, {both} the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.
Neither shalt thou commit adultery.

Then Joseph her husband, being a just {man}, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
So then if, while {her} husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she {is} with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.
But the soul that doeth {ought} presumptuously, {whether he be} born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people. {presumptuously: Heb. with an high hand}
And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak friendly unto her, {and} to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of asses: and she brought him into her father's house: and when the father of the damsel saw him, he rejoiced to meet him. {friendly...: Heb. to her heart}
When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers. {hast...: Heb. thy portion was with}
How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by {them that are} no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses.
Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.
{There is} none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou {art} his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
