And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.

And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the LORD.
What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring {it} within the vail:
And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun.
And Aaron took him Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab, sister of Naashon, to wife; and she bare him Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.
Let my prayer be set forth before thee {as} incense; {and} the lifting up of my hands {as} the evening sacrifice. {set...: Heb. directed}
They shall therefore keep mine ordinance, lest they bear sin for it, and die therefore, if they profane it: I the LORD do sanctify them.
Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:
And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, {even} Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.
But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to {his} destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
And the LORD spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the LORD, and died;
And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer {it} with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. {offer...: or, add it to the prayers}
And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: {which} when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.
And thou shalt make his pans to receive his ashes, and his shovels, and his basons, and his fleshhooks, and his firepans: all the vessels thereof thou shalt make {of} brass.
And he burnt sweet incense thereon; as the LORD commanded Moses.
And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense. {burn: or, offer}
This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company;
And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men? {men: or, husbands?}
And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the LORD, thou, and they, and Aaron, to morrow:
Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
And thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon: {of} shittim wood shalt thou make it.
Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein {was} the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
And they built the high places of Baal, which {are} in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through {the fire} unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish {ought} from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
And these {are} the names of the sons of Aaron; Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
And they have built the high places of Tophet, which {is} in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded {them} not, neither came it into my heart. {came...: Heb. came it upon my heart}
They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire {for} burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake {it}, neither came {it} into my mind:
And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;
And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; {these} sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like {weight}:
And he made the holy anointing oil, and the pure incense of sweet spices, according to the work of the apothecary.
And he made all the vessels of the altar, the pots, and the shovels, and the basons, {and} the fleshhooks, and the firepans: all the vessels thereof made he {of} brass.
And the anointing oil, and sweet incense for the holy {place}: according to all that I have commanded thee shall they do.
According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink {this} cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten {many} of the people with a great slaughter.
We will go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD our God, as he shall command us.
Therefore shall ye abide {at} the door of the tabernacle of the congregation day and night seven days, and keep the charge of the LORD, that ye die not: for so I am commanded.
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.
The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.
Now {these are} the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD:
And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, {even} Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.
Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites:
Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed {difference} between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. {violated: Heb. offered violence to}
And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.
They shall therefore keep mine ordinance, lest they bear sin for it, and die therefore, if they profane it: I the LORD do sanctify them.
