But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Not for {any} injustice in mine hands: also my prayer {is} pure.
For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.
And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, {thou} wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.
For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
Thou knowest that I am not wicked; and {there is} none that can deliver out of thine hand. {Thou...: Heb. It is upon thy knowledge}
Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
{As} God liveth, {who} hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, {who} hath vexed my soul; {vexed...: Heb. made my soul bitter}
What shall we say then? {Is there} unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God. {himself: Heb. his soul}
Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.
But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?
But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
For thou hast said, My doctrine {is} pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.
Behold, {in} this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth {his hands} among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
