Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; {as} Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which {were} in Thelasar?

In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor {by} the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, {and} Chilmad, {were} thy merchants.

And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence {be} ye? And they said, Of Haran {are} we.
And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.
Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.

{Beware} lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
And the servants of the king of Syria said unto him, Their gods {are} gods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.
