Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for passover offerings five thousand {small cattle}, and five hundred oxen. {gave: Heb. offered}
And of the Levites, Ahijah {was} over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things. {dedicated...: Heb. holy things}
Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.
For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where {are} the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.
Also of the sons of Aaron the priests, {which were} in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city, the men that were expressed by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites.
And all the tithe of the land, {whether} of the seed of the land, {or} of the fruit of the tree, {is} the LORD'S: {it is} holy unto the LORD.
And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, {even} the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, {even} the money of every one that passeth {the account}, the money that every man is set at, {and} all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD, {dedicated things: or, holy things: Heb. holinesses} {that every...: Heb. of the souls of his estimation} {cometh...: Heb. ascendeth upon the heart of a man}
And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them {were} Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set {it} forward; and {other of} the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of musick.
