Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse {your} hands, {ye} sinners; and purify {your} hearts, {ye} double minded.
Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up {to be} his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.
Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
And Joash did {that which was} right in the sight of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest.
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near {me} with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
And he did {that which was} right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.

For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.
Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.
A double minded man {is} unstable in all his ways.
Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images. {Their heart...: or, He hath divided their heart} {break...: Heb. behead} {images: Heb. statues, or, standing images}
Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

And Jehoash did {that which was} right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
And he did {that which was} right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.
And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done {that which is} good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. {sore: Heb. with great weeping}
And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.
