In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God:
Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who {am} I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him? {is able: Heb. hath retained, or, obtained strength}
And said unto them, Ye {are} the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, {both} ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel unto {the place that} I have prepared for it.
Thus saith the LORD, The heaven {is} my throne, and the earth {is} my footstool: where {is} the house that ye build unto me? and where {is} the place of my rest?
And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD unto his place, which he had prepared for it.
And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD. {pitched: Heb. stretched}
But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?
[To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.] How amiable {are} thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! {for the sons: or, of the sons}
But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty {God} of Jacob; (from thence {is} the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God:
And {David} made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD {remaineth} under curtains.
That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.
But I have built an house of habitation for thee, and a place for thy dwelling for ever.
But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to {the place which} David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
How he sware unto the LORD, {and} vowed unto the mighty {God} of Jacob;
The LORD {is} my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he {is} my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.
