But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
Wherefore {is there} a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing {he hath} no heart {to it}?
O LORD, {are} not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, {but} they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? {them that are} weaned from the milk, {and} drawn from the breasts. {doctrine: Heb. the hearing?}
And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which {men} deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it {is} sealed: {book: or, letter}
And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.
Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,
And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? {sounds: or, tunes}
