Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry. {tabrets: or, timbrels}

And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.
Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; {there is} none to raise her up.
After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have mercy on his dwellingplaces; and the city shall be builded upon her own heap, and the palace shall remain after the manner thereof. {heap: or, little hill}
Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. {in...: or, with the pipe}
Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill {it}; and let us eat, and be merry:
What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach {is} great like the sea: who can heal thee?
This {is} the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, {and} laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.
Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. {trumpet: or, cornet}

Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: set thine heart toward the highway, {even} the way {which} thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.
And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick. {Philistine: or, Philistines} {instruments...: Heb. three stringed instruments}
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.

The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.
My soul shall be satisfied as {with} marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise {thee} with joyful lips: {marrow: Heb. fatness}
That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof: {decayed...: Heb. wastes}
And {at what} instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant {it};
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.
And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.
Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.
And {they of} the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and {they of} the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin {shall possess} Gilead.

And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.
And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I {am} the LORD their God. {safely: or, with confidence} {despise: or, spoil}

At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.
Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
