And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days,) saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And the LORD said, Go up; for to morrow I will deliver them into thine hand.

And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.
For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever.
And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill {that pertained to} Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.

And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.
And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake {them}, and without fail recover {all}.

Therefore they enquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come thither. And the LORD answered, Behold, he hath hid himself among the stuff.
And Eleazar Aaron's son took him {one} of the daughters of Putiel to wife; and she bare him Phinehas: these {are} the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families.
Eleazar begat Phinehas, Phinehas begat Abishua,
