For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. {shall call: or, thou, O virgin, shalt call}

For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

[A Psalm of Asaph.] The mighty God, {even} the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof. {of...: or, for Asaph}
John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
Who {is} this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
But thou {art} he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope {when I was} upon my mother's breasts. {didst...: or, kept me in safety}
After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:
Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days. {Solomon: that is, Peaceable}
Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome {him}.
The first man {is} of the earth, earthy: the second man {is} the Lord from heaven.
For all the promises of God in him {are} yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed {be} the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord {be} with you all.
And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod {for} stones of memorial unto the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial.
And above the firmament that {was} over their heads {was} the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne {was} the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done {it}.
And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and ye {be} a great multitude, and {there are} with you golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods.
And when all Israel {saw} that the king would not hearken unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? and {we have} none inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to your tents, O Israel: {and} now, David, see to thine own house. So all Israel went to their tents.
And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken {it}.
In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David {shall be} as God, as the angel of the LORD before them. {feeble: or, abject: Heb. fallen}
Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.
And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
The word which {God} sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,
Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon with the crown wherewith his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the gladness of his heart.
Take counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth. {Take: Heb. Bring}
And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S.
And the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little {while}, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel. {avenge: Heb. visit}
Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? {blaspheme: or, revile, or, slander}
And it came to pass, when I, {even} I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.
Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain {saint} which spake, How long {shall be} the vision {concerning} the daily {sacrifice}, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? {that...: or, the numberer of secrets, or, the wonderful numberer: Heb. Palmoni} {of...: or, making desolate}
His mouth {is} most sweet: yea, he {is} altogether lovely. This {is} my beloved, and this {is} my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem. {mouth: Heb. palate}
Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Deceit {is} in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace {is} joy.
And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, {thou} Son of David, have mercy on me.
But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.
To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
PE. Thy testimonies {are} wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.
O that thou {wert} as my brother, that sucked the breasts of my mother! {when} I should find thee without, I would kiss thee; yea, I should not be despised. {I should not...: Heb. they should not despise me}
So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither {have we} inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.
{Then} may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.
And king Solomon {shall be} blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the LORD for ever.
Their blood shall therefore return upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon his seed, and upon his house, and upon his throne, shall there be peace for ever from the LORD.
And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, {even} they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David {shall be} their prince for ever.
In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth. {so long...: Heb. till there be no moon}
But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
I am not able to bear all this people alone, because {it is} too heavy for me.
The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon {is} here.
Gird thy sword upon {thy} thigh, O {most} mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.
And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
