And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, {that} Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

In those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah.
In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.
Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces. {people and: or, people, yet}
And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah. {neither...: Heb. let not thy heart be tender}
The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, {and} Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son;
Ahaz {was} twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not {that which was} right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father:
But Pekah the son of Remaliah, a captain of his, conspired against him, and smote him in Samaria, in the palace of the king's house, with Argob and Arieh, and with him fifty men of the Gileadites: and he killed him, and reigned in his room.
In those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah.
Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought {them} to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter. {Damascus: Heb. Darmesek}
And this is {but} a light thing in the sight of the LORD: he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.

In the two and fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekah the son of Remaliah began to reign over Israel in Samaria, {and reigned} twenty years.
Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome {him}.
Before thy wickedness was discovered, as at the time of {thy} reproach of the daughters of Syria, and all {that are} round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, which despise thee round about. {Syria: Heb. Aram} {despise: or, spoil}
And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
And Hoshea the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and smote him, and slew him, and reigned in his stead, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah.

Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, {even} the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
Syria {was} thy merchant by reason of the multitude of the wares of thy making: they occupied in thy fairs with emeralds, purple, and broidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and agate. {the wares...: Heb. thy works} {agate: or, chrysoprase}
Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?
The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

It came to pass after this also, {that} the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them {other} beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
