Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau {is} Edom.

And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom. {country: Heb. field}
And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.
Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,
These {are} the sons of Esau, who {is} Edom, and these {are} their dukes.
Now these {are} the generations of Esau, who {is} Edom.
And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto Elparan, which {is} by the wilderness. {Elparan: or, The plain of Paran}
For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy {them}: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. {to destroy: Heb. for the destruction}
Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau {for} a possession. {no...: Heb. even to the treading of the sole of the foot}
And {some} of them, {even} of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it; but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.
And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not;

Concerning Edom, thus saith the LORD of hosts; {Is} wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?
