And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.

And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:
And Asa and the people that {were} with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the LORD, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil. {destroyed: Heb. broken}
And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; {plain: Heb. plains}
The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
And when we cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we {are} in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:
And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen, saying, The water {is} ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him. {Esek: that is, Contention}
And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadeshbarnea.
Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.
And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.
Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel. {Meribah-Kadesh: or, strife at Kadesh}
And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.
And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country.
And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha. {Gaza: Heb. Azzah}
And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah {until} thou comest to Shur, that {is} over against Egypt.
Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi; behold, {it is} between Kadesh and Bered. {Beerlahairoi: that is, The well of him that liveth and seeth me}
Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name {was} Hagar.
And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which {is} Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar.
Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that {is} before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: {and} he died in the presence of all his brethren. {died: Heb. fell}

He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;
And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which {is} Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar.
