For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
What shall we say then? {Is} the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. {lust: or, concupiscence}
Who can understand {his} errors? cleanse thou me from secret {faults}.
And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

Thou hast commanded {us} to keep thy precepts diligently.
If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.
Blessed {are} they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither {can} a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
