As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy {place} within the vail before the mercy seat, which {is} upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.
And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the vail.
And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony {were} in his hand: the tables {were} written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other {were} they written.
And thou shalt make a mercy seat {of} pure gold: two cubits and a half {shall be} the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.
And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy {place} before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day. {ends: Heb. heads} {holy...: or, ark}
And Bezaleel made the ark {of} shittim wood: two cubits and a half {was} the length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a half the height of it:
And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.
Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlours thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat,
