And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for {as for} this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, {even} the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as {they were} from the beginning of the creation.
And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.
But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, {that} the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, {even} the tables of the covenant.
Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day {that} the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:
And they said unto Moses, Because {there were} no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
And he said, My presence shall go {with thee}, and I will give thee rest.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted {themselves}:
And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? {the LORD: Heb. the face of the LORD}
And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.
For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:
And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, {and} when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, {There is} an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.
Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou {art} a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.
{And} when they were gone out of the city, {and} not {yet} far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?
And Joseph said unto them, What deed {is} this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine? {divine: or, make trial?}
And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what {is} with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;
But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
And Abimelech said, I wot not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I {of it}, but to day.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness {of any thing} that {is} in heaven above, or that {is} in the earth beneath, or that {is} in the water under the earth:
But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;
Thou shalt not follow a multitude to {do} evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest {judgment}: {speak: Heb. answer}
According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.
These {are} that Aaron and Moses, to whom the LORD said, Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.
For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for {as for} this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
Cursed {be} the man that maketh {any} graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth {it} in {a} secret {place}. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.
And Joseph said unto them, What deed {is} this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine? {divine: or, make trial?}
And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt:
Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.
And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur {are} with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.
And he received {them} at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These {be} thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted {themselves}:
And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, {and} go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:
But in all this {time} was not I at Jerusalem: for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I unto the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king: {after...: Heb. at the end of days} {obtained...: or, I earnestly requested}
Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them, {of men: Heb. of a male}
God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, {of Elias: Gr. in Elias?}
And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did {it}, as {did} also your rulers.
But if I live in the flesh, this {is} the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
