If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that {the judges} may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both {are} abomination to the LORD.
If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, {being} matters of controversy within thy gates: then shalt thou arise, and get thee up into the place which the LORD thy God shall choose;
And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear {the causes} between your brethren, and judge righteously between {every} man and his brother, and the stranger {that is} with him.
Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. {relieve: or, righten}
Thy princes {are} rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. {reprove: or, argue}
And in controversy they shall stand in judgment; {and} they shall judge it according to my judgments: and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all mine assemblies; and they shall hallow my sabbaths.
How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth. {wrong: or, wrested}
O house of David, thus saith the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver {him that is} spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench {it}, because of the evil of your doings. {Execute: Heb. Judge}

Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, {thou} whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
For all manner of trespass, {whether it be} for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, {or} for any manner of lost thing, which {another} challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; {and} whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
Then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.
Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and {of} the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.
God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me.
Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.
And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we {are} my lord's servants, both we, and {he} also with whom the cup is found.
