In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing {was} true, but the time appointed {was} long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. {long: Heb. great}
And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words {are} closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, {even} to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision {is} for {many} days.
Son of man, behold, {they of} the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth {is} for many days {to come}, and he prophesieth of the times {that are} far off.
And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
And they shall be gathered together, {as} prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. {as prisoners...: Heb. with the gathering of prisoners} {pit: or, dungeon} {visited: or, found wanting}
And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for {another} man: so {will} I also {be} for thee.
And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
Yea, he magnified {himself} even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily {sacrifice} was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. {to: or, against} {by him: or, from him}
But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, {even} to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and {there is} none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince. {holdeth: Heb. strengtheneth himself}
And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than {they} all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.
And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily {sacrifice}, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. {maketh...: or, astonisheth}
And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed {it}, and took witnesses, and weighed {him} the money in the balances. {subscribed...: Heb. wrote in the book}
He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling {into a trance}, but having his eyes open:
And from the time {that} the daily {sacrifice} shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, {there shall be} a thousand two hundred and ninety days. {the abomination: Heb. to set up the abomination} {maketh...: or, astonisheth}
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
