Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry {land} appear: and it was so.
For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. {firmament: Heb. expansion}
To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy {endureth} for ever.
By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, {even} to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because {they have} no knowledge: and their honourable men {are} famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. {honourable...: Heb. glory are men of famine}
For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces. {robbery: or, spoil}
But he knoweth not that the dead {are} there; {and that} her guests {are} in the depths of hell.
